I’m so happy you decided to stop by and learn how to use a pendulum, thank you!
Pendulums are a divination tool. Sometimes people use them for dowsing which is a subset of divination. If you looked up divination in the dictionary it would say...
noun - The practice of seeking knowledge of the future or the unknown by supernatural means. Any action that attempts to solicit information directly from the divine. The effort to gain information with a physical object that is easily controlled by the divine. *Divine meaning of, from, or like God or a god.* I'll be going more in depth with this in my next post.
Pendulums are one of the easiest divination tools. There are only three parts to a pendulum. The first is the weighted object or “bob” suspended on a length of thread, string, or chain. On the other side there is the “fob” or holding piece. It's usually around 6 inches or so.
The easiest and most common thing to do with a pendulum is to ask it simple yes or no questions. But it can also help you in finding lost objects, choosing something(s), identifying a problem, energy clearing and healing, and chakra balancing. You can also use a pendulum for dowsing and radiesthesia. The trick is that all of these things are based on asking the pendulum yes or no questions. I’ll get more in depth with these other fabulous uses in some of my next posts.
There are three great ways to hold a pendulum:
1.) Hold the fob with your thumb and pointer
2.) Hold the the chain that’s right under the fob with your thumb and pointer.
3.) Cradle the chain in your pointer finger and you can even hold the top of it down with your thumb.
Now that you know how to hold your pendulum you are going to want to program it. A great first step is to establish a bond with your pendulum, put your own energy into it. You can do that by handling it frequently, keeping it with you wherever you go(pendulum bracelets are great for that), charge it under the moonlight, or even charge it with you own energy. You can charge it with your own energy by directing energy towards it with your hands, imagining the energy flowing into it, or even saying a prayer, intention, or mantra.
You will want to cleanse and clear the energy of the pendulum before and after every use. You could...
•hold it in your receptive hand and imagine bright light is surrounding it
•say a prayer or intention like “I transmute all negative energy to the light"
The next step is figuring out your “yes” and ”no”. There are three ways that I like to do so. The first two we will be tellling our pendulum which way we would like them to go.
For the first way, you just need your pendulum and a flat surface. Pick up your pendulum and hold it over the flat surface. (You can always place you elbow on the flat surface to keep your hand steady). Figure out which hold feels best for you, and don't be afraid to switch it up to figure out what feels most comfortable. Now swing the pendulum in the direction you want your “yes“ to go.
Swing your pendulum in the chosen direction several times and say “this is my "yes””. When you feel satisfied repeat the process in a different direction for your “no”. When you feel confident, check your pendulum for accuracy by asking it a few simple questions that can be answered by a yes or no. (You can always program a third option like “maybe”.)
-“Is my name (your name)?” - - Should answer yes.
-“Is my name (not your name)?” - - Should answer no.
The second way is using a pendulum board. Lay your board down flat and hold your pendulum over the board. Swing the pendulum in the “yes” direction and say “this is my "yes"” several times. When you feel satisfied repeat the process for the ”no” direction and any other options on your board. Some boards could come with options that say “maybe”, “unclear”, “needs more info”, “neutral”, or other similair phrases. Once you feel confident, check for accuracy!
So, the third option is to ask and see what direction your pendulum swings organically. Hold your pendulum over a flat surface and say “show me my ”yes””. It could move back and forth, side to side, clockwise, and of course counterclockwise. Which are all perfect options.
You can always ask your pendulum for a bigger swing if you’re feeling unsure or unsatisfied with its range of motion and you’re not sure or you can’t tell where it’s going or moving.
So establish your “yes”, “no”, and “unclear” or “neutral”. And when you feel ready ask it a simple question to check for accuracy.
**NOW YOU’RE READY FOR THE MAGIC**
Go ahead and ask your pendulum some questions you’ve been wanting answers to. Don’t forget you should only be asking the pendulum questions that would have a ”yes” or “no” response.
✅ “Is it raining right now?”
❌ “When will it rain?”
Make sure you are stopping the pendulum motion before you ask it another question. You can use your hand or you can say “stop”.
It’s a really great idea to write down and keep a journal of all your questions and responses. If you feel like the response you are getting isn’t accurate; Clear the energy and try it again. Take note of this. You can try it again right after you've cleared it or you can wait a while.
Always go back and review your past responses! It's so fun and interesting to see.
